7mths old

We took Gavin to the Gaylord Texan this year to see Santa for his first Christmas and he did such an amazing job. The pictures with Santa turned out great but here is a few pictures we took ourselves. I love these pictures and I think that I am going to stop spending money on photographers and just start doing this on my own.

Mommy and Gavin, he was laughing so hard while I was tickling him.
Now is that not the most precious smirk or what.
Waiting to see Santa.
Daddy and Gavin playing.

Gavin is now 7 1/2 mths old and he is changing so much. Everyday he is doing something new. Here are just a few things he does
- Says Dada all day
- sitting up on his own
- reaches up for you
- sits up in his crib and throws his pacifiers
- Shakes his head no no
- plays patty cake
- sleeps 10-12 hrs at night (most nights)
- has 1 tooth
- pulls up to his knees
- drinks from his sippy cup
- feeds himself his banana puffs
- he has also had quite a few different foods, I am still making all is foods and so far he has done pretty good with them except broccoli.

He is such a joy in our lives and we are loving every moment of what he does. At his 6mth Dr. appt. he was 18lbs and 7oz and 29 inch long. He is prob. over 20 lbs now.

Long time over due

Well Mr. Gavin is now 4 mths old and its amazing how much he is growning and changing in such a small amount of time. 13 weeks old was the turning point for us, we had a week of first that week. 1st time for church, family BBQ, laughed out loud, found his feet, officially rolled over and since then he is doing so many more new and exciting things. This past weekend he started turning over from his back to stomach and stayed with my mom overnight, oh how we missed him but the sleep that night was great.

At his 4mth dr. appt. he weighed in at 15.8lbs (70%) and 27 in. long (97%), we might have a tall boy on our hands. We have offically broke the swaddle and he sleeps with sleepers now and he looks so cute in them, its a pain changing diapers in the middle of the night with them though. Speaking of middle night, he has began to sleep through the night SOMETIMES, but most nights he still gets up. I wish I could figure it out but only time will allow me to figure it out.

He has this amazing laugh, it sounds like an owl/cry/laugh all at the same time. I have been able to videotape it but when I do he stops so I have only been able to get small bits of it.

We are going to be taking a vacation to Arizone in October to see family and the GRAND CANYONS, we are excited and I cant wait for Uncle Mark to meet Gavin, he is going to spoil him.

Very touching service at Church today.

We have been attending Pantego Bible Church for over a year now and have really felt great about this Church and have got involved with Community Group and Home Group and everyone has been wonderful to us. Now that we have Gavin I have been thinking of how do we put Christ in his Life at such a young age. I just kept telling myself that we would figure it out and the more we are involved and the more we practice our Faith then he would see how Christ works and Faith would happen.

Well today we went to church early to meet the Nursery Coordinator, because we are going to start doing Nursery Ministry. As we were walking down to the classroom Kevin said that we needed to leave Gavin in the nursery today. I looked at him and I know that I gave him a crazy face (thinking to myself, you want me to leave him, are you crazy). However, I did say ok with a little, ok quite a bit of hesistance but decided it would be good since it was Gavin's naptime and I knew he would not sleep in service. The nursery coord. took Gavin and swaddled him and put him in the crib and he just layed there, prob. wondering where am I but he was calm so we went to service.

Service was great, finishing up the chapter on Colossians and how Paul wrote letters to each Church and had them delivered. In this the associate Pastor spoke on how the Church that he attended at the age of 12 and how much of difference it has made in his life and how his pastor then changed his life. So then a 12 yr old girl from service got on stage and spoke about how she had been attending Pantego since she was born and spoke of different people that she has encountered along the way and how they have touched her.

This all made me think about how Gavin's life can/will be changed by us as his Parents keeping him involed in Church and teaching him the values of living a Christian rich life. Today was God's way of reaching out to me and telling me to leave Gavin in the nursery because he is going to grow here and these people are going to be BIG influental people in his life and that we are doing this right.
GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS, BUT HE IS ALWAYS TEACHING US.

Professional Pictures

So we finally went and had our pictures taken and we went to Kiddie Kandid at Babies R Us. They did such a good job and we really patient with us. Gavin is always awake and happy right after a feeding so we planned it around that. However they were running behind and by the time they got to us he was asleep but as you can see he woke up and cooperated really well. There were moments he was screaming but with the help of a pacifier he calmed down. I am so happy that they turned out so good.
We ordered a 20x24 canvas of the family picture from kodak gallery, cant wait to get it.

Sleeping

Well after seeing the Dr for his 2 mth check up and telling him that gavin does not sleep through the night he told us that he should be sleeping about 6-7 hr. stretches now and to let him cry it out. After talking with some friends they told us about the Ferber (not to sure on the spelling) method, which is to do the least invasive intervention when they are crying. Ex. stand at the door of his room, sit on the floor but with your back towards the crib that way you dont make eye contact, etc. Well 3 nights of doing it and it is really working, we do have to give him his pacifier but we stay in his room for about min and he falls back to sleep. The first night was hard he woke up every 30-40 min from 1 am till 3 am, 2nd night he woke up 2x and last night he only woke up once. When he wakes up at 4ish I still feed him, thats because when I go back to work I want to be able to do that before I leave instead of pumping. I was and still am amazed by how easy it worked, makes me think why did I not try this earlier.

2 mths old

I cant not believe that our little boy is 2 mths old now. Its going by so fast by also so slow, I like slow though. He went to the Dr. today and is 11lbs 14oz (6o percentile) and 23.5 in. (75 percentile). He also got his immunizations, I was definatley very upset about today and just could not imagine having someone hurt my son but we had to, and to our suprise he overall did good. Of course he cried but very shortly and by now he forgot all about it.

He is right on track with his growth and development, but the Dr. says that he should be sleeping about 4-6 hr. stretches at night and since he is not he recommends letting him cry it out. I really hate doing that but I think we might have too. I am still breastfeeding and every morning around 1 am he only eats for about 5 min, so basically I am a pacifier and because of that I think we have to break that feed. If he was eating good at this time then I would think different. However we are going to wait till this weekend to do it since Kevin is off all weekend and can help me because I will cave in quickly.

Today we were also ordering pictures online from his birth and looking at those pictures was amazing. Its crazy how much he has changed in such a short amount of time. He just gets better looking everyday, people say that he looks like Kevin but I still dont see it but I also dont see me in him.

Moments ago I was cuddling with Gavin in his room and listening to his lullabies getting ready for bed and he threw his head backwards and noticed something on the wall and smiled, the only thing there is his Sailboat. Dont know if that is really what he saw or what but it was very precious. He is such a happy baby, right after he eats he just stares at you and smiles and even coo's, it is precious. I am in LOVE

Family came to visit

Aunt Karen and cousin Sam from Arizona came to visit and Gavin really loved them and thanks to Aunt Karen we were able to get a 15 min chair massage at the mall while she watched him, it was great.

My brother finally got married, after being with his wife for 16years they finally tied to not. My brother had kidney cancer and had surgery on Wed 4-29-09 and I went into labor on Thurs. 4-30-09 and since he lives 2 hours away Gavin did not meet his Uncle and Aunt until this day.

Me and Gavin dancing on the dance floor, he did so good with all the people and the noise.

We were a quite concerned about taking Gavin out and 7 weeks old for a 2 hr drive and a wedding but it had to be done since it was family and since they have never met him. However, he did really good. The music did not scare him and the only time he cried was when he was hungry or tired. He feel asleep as soon as we left, did not even make it to the Hwy. He is an amazing little boy.

Pictures

Hanging out on the couch and wearing my first pair of shoes - such a Handsome boy.
Sleeping with Daddy, I absolutely LOVE this. My 2 Boys.

Here he is smiling at me and Mama holding him.

First bath after his umbilical cord fell off.

This is day he turned 1 mth old and this is the first time that I got him to smile. He has been smiling since he was born but in his sleep.

1 mth. old

Our little boy is 1 mth old now and I can not believe it. He is getting so long and starting to get a personality. He smiles all the time (sometimes it's just gas) and loves to look at the light. We keep the blinds open all day and he just stares. We have been trying to put him on a routine since he was born that kind of worked but it is a lot better now. He is a very good eater, as I like to say he takes a bath in his milk since he eats so well. Speaking of baths, he loves them, he just sits there all relaxed and he loves for his hair to be washed.

We are just amazed by our little man and fall in love with him even more every day.

Kevin and I are great and thank goodness we are still going strong and have not forgot about each other since Gavin has arrived. We have had 2 outings to Walmart (woohoo) by ourselves and Mama (my mom) watched Gavin. We were only gone about 2 hours but it was great to get out.

We have got Gavin out of the house a few times but we leave him in his car seat and stroller, but we are not ready to take him all around yet, we are waiting till he is 3 mths old before we get him out more which then we will do slowly. 3mths is when their immune system gets stronger.

Daddy Speaks

Gavin is 3 weeks old today.

Wow time flies when you are having fun. I could never of imagined having these strong feelings instantly after his birth; and to think they will only and have only gotten stronger since. I remember watching his birth in amazement, thinking "what did I do to deserve such a perfect little person in my life". Our family has truly been blessed with our new little addition. He is the center of all of my thoughts and the focus in all of my prayers. I love my son with all of my heart and thank God for him every day.

My beautiful wife

Words cannot say how I feel about B. She is my backbone, my strength, my everything. She is a wonderful mother, a best friend, a soulmate, and I could go on and on. Watching her with Gavin is awesome. She just "gets it" if you know what I mean. She knows just how to hold him, how to speak to him, and how to correct me when I am not as successful.

I have known for many years that she would one day make a great mother to our child, however; never in my wildest dreams did I think she would suprise me to this extent. I love to watch her with amazement and awe as she cares for him in the gentlest manner and calms him when he is in need. I sometimes sit and watch as Gavin falls asleep on her chest and what a perfect site it is to see. My life is complete with her in it and I am forever greatful for my "B".

First time in his crib.

Since we got home from the hospital we have tried to get Gavin to sleep in his pack -n- play but with no sucess. Sometimes he will sleep in it and then other times he has nothing to do with it. We have even tried a wedge, a bassinet, the couch and even the boppy. All these work somedays but not others. The best way for him to sleep is on our chest. As much as we love it I also hate that he sleeps with us. I have always said that my kids will not sleep with me but in the middle of the night comes and we are exhausted and the only way to get sleep is this way then thats how it will be. However he will sleep good but he is very vocal in his sleep, he grunts and makes all kinds of crazy noises, no we dont get the best sleep and on top of that he eats every 2hours, yes even at night. So needless to say we are exhausted.
Well we did not want to put him in his crib yet due to the risk of SIDS, but we have discussed this in detail and decided to but him in his crib with hopes that we all get some rest. This way we will not hear every moan and groan but still will hear if he cries and will take all necessary precautions to reduce the risk of SIDS. We have a video monitor that works very well so now lets pray that this works and we all get some much needed rest.
We also swaddled him because when he fights his sleep he knocks his pacifer out of his mouth with his hands, he gets very mad and his arms go every which way. This way his arms and swaddled and cant do this. We have tried it before but it did not work but we are always trying to reintroduce new things.
It does make me sad seeing him in his crib though, he just looks so little in such a big bed but so adorable at the same time. As I am writing this he has been asleep for 30 min and is now waking up, this is just how night time is.

Daddy has been initiated into FATHER hood.

At our first dr. appt Gavin had a BM in daddys hand, he peed on him while he was changing his diaper. We were getting Gavin ready for a bath and Kevin was holding him naked and he had an explosive BM on Kevins hand, shirt and the floor. We both laughed so hard it took us about 10 min to gather ourselves so that we could bathe him. Then last night as Kevin was burping Gavin he vomitted on Kevin. All of this has happened to Kevin and the only thing that happened to me was when I was feeding him he peed out of his diaper and it got on me and his blanket. I probably should not be talking about it because it will happen to me next.

I just think its hilarious that all this has happened to daddy and not mommy.
MOMMYS LITTLE BOY

Mothers Day

These are a few of the pictures that we took. I love them and cant wait to frame them.

My first Mothers Day, I have been looking forward to this day all year. For so many years now I have dreamed of being a mother and finally I am and I also get a day to be spoiled, I have been so excited. Since Gavin is only 1 week old we are not going anywhere so we hung out at home and Kevin cooked french toast for breakfast and bruschetta chicken for dinner while me and Gavin layed around in bed. He also gave me a beautiful card, one from him and one from Gavin with a framed picture of Gavin.

Later on that day we played like we were photographers and took Mommy and me pictures as well as some naked pictures of Gavin. I love this little guy and had a wonderful day.

1 week old

So our baby boy is 1 week old now, that makes me so sad. I know that he has to grow but I already dont want him to. I can see the changes in him already and as happy as it makes me it also makes me sad.

This past week has definatley been a rollercoaster of emotions. Since we have been home we have had some night time difficulties with Gavin, thinking that he has gas, or colic but the dr. said he is too young to have colic. So that has left us going crazy trying to figure out what to do to get some sleep at night. We had my mom stay the night and she was a blessing and took care of him for 2 hours at night while we slept and she said that she thinks he is still hungry which might be why is crying at night. So I fed him even though it was not time but that night was easier. But since then the nights have still been a little rocky but I know that we will get threw all of this with just a little bit of patience.

Kevin has been great, he is up with me every time Gavin wakes up. I feed, Kevin changes his diaper and burps him. We are such a great team, I am so lucky to have such an amazing husband.

My Amazing Family

Where do I begin, I am sitting here and just thinking about how my life has changed so much in a matter of 6 days. Tomorrow my son will be 1 week old and I am so sad by that, he is growing and I am not ready for that already. Kevin is absolutley amazing, he is sitting with Gavin right now and they both are sleeping, I am trying to give them some daddy and son time, but it is so hard because I want to hold him and kiss him so much. Kevin did yard work today and was outside for almost 4 hours, and he missed Gavin so much. He wanted to know everything that happened in those 4 hours. It is great to have such an amazing husband, father, best friend.

I am in no manner depressed, I am overjoyed and my emotions are are going crazy. I am like a basket case right now. I cry everyday just looking over Gavin and watching how great Kevin is and am so blessed to be where I am right now in my life.

It amazes me to think how some dont take care of the babies. As I watch over Gavin I cant imagine my life without him, not changing his stinky but adorable diapers, not seeing his cute butt and kissing his wrinkly toes, hearing his owl screaching cry at 3 am and only getting sleep in 2 hour incriments. However, this is the life that I dreamed of and I will work hard everyday to make sure that I am the best mother and the best wife. For I know this is my destiny and GOD has given me this path because it is where I am suppose to be.

LIFE IS GREAT - GOD IS AMAZING - GAVIN IS SPECTACULAR - KEVIN IS MY ROCK.

INTRODUCING GAVIN WAYNE

More Gavin Wayne

The Arrival

Thursday April 30, 2009 at 5:30am I felt that my water had broken but since I had a Dr. appt at 8:30 we decided to wait to see the Dr. to make sure. Well much to our suprise my water had not broken so we scheduled the induction date and went on our merry way, haha. We actually did a bunch of errands to get ready for Gavins arrival. We spent the rest of the evening at home spring cleaning and grilling. We were sittin on the back porch and Kevin said that my pants we wet, we both jumped up and yes they were wet but not alot so we had decided to watch it. We finished grilling, ate, went for a walk - I actually ran some, took a shower. Through all this I was having some irregular ctx's but they were getting stronger and more regular. After about 3hrs of ctx's and 1hr of hard, regular ctx's and bleeding we decided to make a trip to labor and delivery, with every anticipation of going home. Upon arrival to the hospital they placed me on some monitors and asked all the basic questions and did an Amnisure test (test to see it my water had ruptured). With fear in our eyes as we watched the test and 2 lines appeared, meaning my water had broke and the nurse confirmed it and that we were staying, we both broke down into tears. We are going to meet our little BOY soon :)

THE LABOR:
We arrived at the hospital at 11:04 pm, admitted around midnight and transfered to the floor and the process began. I got my IV and they started Pitocin around 2am to inncrease the strength of my ctx's and get a better pattern. The pain was awful I went from being able to talk with my ctx's to not being able to breathe in like 2 seconds, it happened fast. They offered me the epidural but being only 1cm I said no. After 30 min fo pain I convinced myself to get some pain meds, but decided to get the epidual instead, still on 1 cm, so I got it around 3 am. Approx. 2 hrs later I was 3-4 cm, then 8 cm (2 hrs later), then 9.5 approx. 1 hr later and started pushing around 11am. After only pushing for almost an hour we gave birth to out BEAUTIFUL BABY BOY at 11:49. Labor was hard but easier than I had expected and it was the most amazing feeling ever.

EMOTIONS:
How do you explain what if feels like to be a parent, you cant. There is not a book of anyone that can tell you what it is suppose to feel like, but it is by far the best and most AMAZING feeling I have ever felt and I am so glad that I have experienced this now in my life and so happy to have such an AMAZING husband and AMAZING son. Life is great, God is AMAZING.

37 week appt

Well we saw the dr. for our 37 week appt and for a repeat sono to check the fluid level again. Well the good news is that the fluid level is better its at 8.1 now but the bad news is that we dont get to meet Gavin just yet. We got to get some pictures of his face and he was talking and blinking at us and he had his left hand in front of his face. ADORABLE.

We then went to see the Dr. and no weight gain this week and my blood pressure was good, this visit with her was short but she did do an exam and I am no 1cm dilated - woohoo. At least I am changing and making a little progress, some is better than none.

My next appt I will be 38 wks and Kevin is not able to go so my mom is going and when we told the Dr. that, she said this will be the day that something happens since Kevin cant be there. We are ok with that though because as long as something happens and of course Kevin will just leave his class and some be with us. But maybe something will happen sooner.

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

36 wks.

We had our 36wk appt. and had a sono. Gavin is growing great, estimated weight is 5lbs 11ox and 18.2 in. long and HR was 158bpm. However, my fluid level is low a level less than 8 is low and less than 5 is severe and mine is 6.9. She is not to concerned about it since the baby looks great and since I am just about due. Now I have a sono every week to monitor fluid level and if the level is less than 5 we will induce. This all concerns me because I do not want to be induced but if there is a problem than of course I wont argue. Other than that everything looks great and everything is measuring right on track.

Gavin is still very active but it is more localized now and all his movement is on my left side which is where his feet are. We got some really good pictures from the sono and its confirmed that its still a boy, no boy parts have fallen off, haha :)-

Early Labor Pains

Well for a couple of days now I have been having cramps that were not painful just uncomfortable. I also started having ctx but not sure if they are real ctx's or braxton hicks but since they are not regular then I did not worry about them. Over the weekend Kevin and I cleaned the house and I kind of helped with the yard work but my back could not take it so I stayed inside and did some house work. Well on Saturday I started having ctx's that were very regular for about 30min but then they would go away and I could talk and walk threw them so I was not that concerned. However Saturday night came the worst back pain I have had to experience yet. Not only did my hips and back hurt but my tailbone was burning it hurt so bad. I did the heating pad and tried to change positions often but to no suprise I got no relief. Well that continued on until today Monday but I do get some relief but not alot. I did not go to work today due to the back pain and staying up from 1:13am till 5:30am but I did go the Dr. I actually cried in the dr. office and I still dont know why I guess just the hormones going crazy. The Dr. said that I have just having pregnancy pains and I am in the early stages of labor. I had my first cervical exam and I am fingertip which is like 0.5cm dilated. Now this does not mean I am going to go into labor soon its just my bodys way of preparing for the big day. She also said that he is dropping which is why I am having alot of the lower back pain, or as a friend says its baby Gavin massaging his back on my back :)

Gavin's Room

The most recent picture of his room. Look at the shelf above the window, we had the idea but had some help making it. We absolutley love it and cant wait for him to sleep in his room.

34 weeks

34 week appt.

Well today we had our 34wk appt and all is well. I have gained another 3 lbs but oh well thats ok its all for our little man. His HR was 142bpm in the office which is great. Its amazing how much this little guy is moving. Alot of the pregnancy blogs says that they move less at this time but not my Gavin, he is super active all I have to do is touch my belly and he moves but I guess that is just a mothers touch. Just kidding he moves alot for Kevin too, its amazing how much he has captured our hearts already and how lucky we are to have such an amazing little boy too.

We are at the home stretch now, only 6 more weeks to go. We are now trying to make sure everything is ready but still space things out so that we always have something to do. We still need a book shelf for his room and we decided not to get a rocker/glider for me in his room just so we can save money. Other than that we are all set for him to come home. We have not packed mine/or his bag yet but that can wait.

We bought a new camera but I have not figured out how to upload pictures on here with it yet so as soon as I do I will post new pictures.
