He is Moving

I FELT HIM MOVE - YEAH. I can officially say that I felt my little man move. I have been feeling him moving on the inside for about 2 weeks now but have not been able to feel him on the outside. I have felt a few things but not sure exactly what I was feeling. It was not until this morning while I was lying in bed that I felt him kick, roll or something. I know that it was I felt because I felt it a couple times after that. This is so exciting, I cant wait for Kevin to feel this.

Baby Furniture

The day after Thanksgiving "Black Friday" we both had to work and did not have plans on any type of shopping. However when I got to work and saw the sale paper there was a sale at Babies 'R' Us and it was for this bedroom set. If you bought the dresser and armoire than you got the crib for free. Well since this is one of the pieces we were looking at we could not miss such a great deal. I called around trying to get someone to get it for me since we were working and his wonderful brother and sister n law did it for us. We put the crib together about a week later and the dresser and armoire were already assembled. We love the set.

Back Pain

Well I have been dealing with back pain since before we found out we were pregnant. I went to the Dr. about it when I was about 3wks pregnant, but of course did not know we were pregnant. So far I have been dealing with back pain the whole time but it comes and goes. I started seeing a chiropracter and had immediate relief from that but I knew the pain would get worse and my belly grew more and man was I right. I woke up this AM around 4:45 to use the restroom and the pain began. This has been the worst case so far, it hurts so bad I want to vomit. I took some tylenol and laid on the heating pad but after about 5 min the pains got worse and now I have diarrhea. I decided to stay up and wait for this to all pass, hopefully it will soon. So it is now 5:45am and I am still dealing with this pain. I would rather this over N/V during the pregnancy though.

Soccer Boy

December 24, 2008 - Christmas Eve 21 weeks pregnant
Today after having Christmas with the family we were lying in bed and Gavin was super active. I could not believe how crazy he was being, Kevin tried to feel him move but was unsucessful. I started calling him karate kid but decided that soccer boy fits him better since we will most likely enroll him in soccer and since Kevin grew up playing soccer. I wish Kevin could feel him move but just to think that he will soon be able to feel it.

Christmas Card

This is how we told our family and friends we were expecting a BOY. The day we found out it was a BOY, we went to Target and made this card and sent it out.

It's a BOY !!!!

December 16, 2008 - 20 weeks.
Today was the BIG DAY, we get to find out how the baby is doing and if its a BOY/GIRL. After seeing the nurse and doing vital signs, we had a sono. The sono tech explained everything to us and said that the baby is growing right on track, the HR was 152bmp. After doing all the necessary measurements she would tell us the gender. We wanted to see if we could guess the gender when she put the picture up we could not tell. But guess what its a BOY! At that point we could tell it was a BOY, just took a little explaining.

My mom went to the appt with us. When she arrived at the Dr. office she came in with presents and said "Grandma is here, " she knows how to embarass us, just kidding. While we were doing the sono she was taking pictures of me and videotaping. When the sono tech said its a BOY, she shouted out its Gavin Wayne.

We then went to see the Dr. to make sure I was doing ok, which I am and I am growing right on track just like he is, I have only gained 5 lbs.

We are all super excited its a BOY, from the moment we found out we have been calling him by his name "Gavin Wayne" we are so in love with him already and cant wait for the future. As we were waiting to see the Dr. my mom went to the restroom and I started crying. Kevin thought I was upset that it was a BOY, but I wasn't, it was just an overwhelming feeling that came over me and made it all so real.

Our master plan was blown

November 27, 2008 Thanksgiving Day
It was today that I had discovered that the plan to tell our families on Christmas Eve what we were expecting had been blown. My sister had found out our plan and told the family. I was really hurt my this. We had put so much thought into this and now had my mom in on the whole plan and now I have to figure out a new way to suprise them. UHH it was stressful enough keeping it from them now I am dealing with the stress of figuring out what to do. I am now thinking about telling them for New Years Eve. What to do? What to do?

We caved or should I say I caved

As time grew closer to our big 20 week appointment (about 3 weeks away) I began debating about keeping my mom out of the loop. I mean she is my mom and she has been so excited about us being pregnant, she has been buying baby stuff before we found out we were pregnant. My mom and I have not really talked about the appt but I had decided that if she ask I will tell her the appt is not until the new year, but I felt like I was lying to her. After much thought I had decided that I want her to be there but this is not just my decision this is also Kevins decision. So after talking with him about it and he could tell how much it meant to me to have her there he said that he did not mind. I called her the next day and invited her to lunch. As we were sitting at lunch I told her that I had a confession, she thought I was going to tell her that we already found out. I told her our feelings and thoughts about it and that we want her to be there. She was excited but very calm about it but I guess in her eyes she thought she would always get to go. I felt so much better after that and felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Baby is Moving

December 12, 2008
I think I felt the baby move today for the first time. I was at work and I just kept feeling this weird sensation in my lower abdomen. I really am not sure how to describe how it feels but I will give it a shot. Feels like an electric shock, bubbles in your belly, a punch, gas, tickle sensation. See none of that goes together but after feeling it over and over I have come to realize that I bet it is the baby moving. So exciting, its a new experience.

The Big debating question

Well over the months of being pregnant we have contatplated going to our 20 week appt. by ourselves or having my mom come with us. This is the day that we will find out what we are having. Since we found out we were expecting we had decided that it just be us two and we were ok with that. Well as time has gone by we began thinking of how to tell the family what we were having, I did not want to just call them over the phone and tell we having a boy/girl. After much debate we had decided to tell them Christmas Eve since our appt. is only 8 days from Christmas Eve but we were still unsure as to how it would all unfold. We had many ideas and had even discussed this with many people, not the family though. Since we still had a couple of weeks to decide we continued to think about this so that we would make the right decision.

Kevins Stress

Since the day we found out we were expecting Kevin has been stressed out about everything. He is always thinking about money and making sure we have enough put away so that we can buy the necessary things, making sure that the house stays clean and that I am doing OK. Because of this he has been quite uptight but all for good reasons. He wants to make sure we are both prepared for our arrival and that we dont have any reasons to under estimate ourselves. Sometimes dealing with his stress is overwhelming but I have come to realize over the last several years that this is just the way Kevin is, he is a planner and he wants to make sure that he will always be able to provide for us so that we dont have to depend on anyone or anything else. We planned for this baby and every moment of it and this is just another one of our steps in our journey that we love.

2nd Sono at Work

December 3, 2008 18weeks and 1 day
I still do not want to find out if its a boy or girl since Kevin is not with us, but Santa and I really wanted to look at the baby so we just took more pictures. The baby is still breech and sitting on his/her feet looking at my back, which made it really hard to take pictures, but we were able to get a few. Santa likes to look to see if its a boy/girl so that when we find out she can compare what she thought, but she still promises not to tell me or anyone and I trust her. She did say that she could not tell because of the position. I was glad because its getting harder and harder not knowing. I called Kevin during the sono so that Kevin could hear the heartbeat, it was 156bpm strong and clear, we still love to hear that sound.

Sono at Work

November 6, 2008 14 weeks and 2 days
Since I work in Labor and Delivery and have access to sonograms I had a sono today at work by one of our nurse's named Santa. I did not want to find out what we were having yet since Kevin was not there so we just took pictures and did measurements, she said that the baby is growing like he/she should be and moving alot but I cant feel it yet. She looked and could tell the gender but promised she would not tell anyone and I feel very confident that she will not do so. The baby is breech and sitting on his/her feet, it was the cutest thing. I sent pictures to Kevin over our phone. Here are some of those pictures.

16 week appt.

November 18, 2008
This is now our 3rd Dr. appt. and this appt. went just like the last dr. appt, blood work, vital signs, except with this appt. we have decided to get the quad screen done, which is blood work that can give you a percentage of there been something wrong with our munchkin. We had previously decided not to do this since it would not change our mind with the pregnancy, but after much debate we decided to proceed just so that we would have the knowledge and be able to prepare ourselves for the what if. After about 5 days of waiting for the results all the results came back normal - woohoo. We heard the heart beat by doppler at this visit and its was 162bpm, hearing that sound is music to my ears. Kevin actually tries to make sounds like the heartbeat and he does a really good job, it is so sweet. We actually enjoy going to see the Dr. and one of the reasons is for hearing the heartbeat. Just think our next appt. we get to find out what we are having.

12 week appt.

October 21, 2008
Well this is the first time we got to see the Dr. since we have been pregnant. I have been seeing her for about 1 year now, but at our first visit we did not see her. It was a very exciting appointment since it was all still really new to us. We saw the nurse and did some basic questions, blood work and vital signs. We then saw the Dr. and got to hear the heart beat by doppler this time, its was 162 BPM, Kevin recorded it on his phone. After that appt. we went to look for hardwood floor for the babys room, but since then have decided not to do that so that we can save some money.

First pregnant picture

4 weeks pregnant.

Our First appt.

Sept 21, 2008
We both got up really early and made sure we were all ready. We arrived at about 8:15 and anxiously waited, my mom arrived shortly after. We waited in the waiting room for about 15 min my stomach was starting to get butterflies, this is about to turn real. I knew we were pregnant, but we were about to have it confirmed. The sono tech called us to the room and asked me a few general questions. She then had me undress from the waist down. She explains the sono to me and preceeds, my mom begins to get the video camera out so that can tape the TV of the sono and Kevin sits beside me as we hold hands. I first see the black circle on the screen which confirmed to me there was our little munchkin but as grandma calls it a frog, I could see it all. Even though it looks different, to me I knew what everything was. As the sono tech continues to look around I see a flicker on the screen and I said “look there is the heartbeat,” my eyes filled with tears, and the sono tech said and “now you can hear it.” That was music to my ears, my mom was standing up and I saw her crying and she was holding her face but Kevin was sitting beside me holding my hand I did not even see him crying my eyes were so fixed on that TV screen, he later on told me that he cried. The sono tech gave us some paperwork on the babys development at this time and details for future sono’s.

We then went to see the nurse and more questions, vital signs, weight and lots of paperwork, I understood everything but because this is our family it was so much fun. We got goody bags and books, it was so exciting. We preceded with the visit and had blood work done and got to leave.

Kevin and I went home and later on ran a bunch of errands and looked for our first baby outfit, neutral color but no luck, we are to picky.
To top of this experience we were amazed to see our child even though it looks like a frog it is still our child and am so lucky to have been blessed with such an amazing gift and amazing husband. My life is the best right now and cant wait for our future enderavors.

Telling my Family

Well since some of family does not live close by most of them were told over the phone but they had to wait till I told my mom. Since I was seeing her on August 26 I waited to tell her than, I did not want to tell her over the phone. I went to my moms friends house which is where I was meeting my mom and Kevin was with me. We gave her a picture frame and a onesie that had Grandma quotes on it. It took her a while to grasp what we were telling her but after thinking about it and asking me if we were pregnant and I started crying she broke down and started crying. Later on that night we told the rest of my family and some more of our friends.

Telling his family

We told a few friends and his family on August 25. We told his mother by taking her to Babies 'r' us, it took her a while to understand even with me taking pictures of her, over and over she finally got it and started screaming. He told his dad over the phone, he said "Guess what Dad" and his day said "Your going to be a dad." We told his brother and wife at dinner with a card that said "Great Brothers make Even Greater Uncles," the two of them were excited and started screaming as well. That was a great day.
