Glucose Results

Jan. 28
Well today was bad weather day and I had to work. The roads were so icy and my car was covered in ice. I left for work at 5:30 and did not get there till 7:10, so it took me and hour and a half to get to work which was horrible. However I made it and did so carefully.

I kept calling the home phone and checking my cell phone because I was suppose to get my glucose results today, but I only get a call if I failed the test. Well to my disappointment I got a call and I failed the test by 2 points which means I am at risk for gestational diabetes. I have to go back and repeat the test but its now a 3 hour test and have to have my blood drawn 4 times. I will be at the dr. office for about 4 hours and cant eat, drink and even leave the office. This day is not going to be fun, but I will do whatever I have to do to make sure I am keeping him safe.

That appt is set for our 28 wk appt and I will keep you posted.

Aunt Megan

No one has been able to feel Gavin move except me and Kevin. Well today Uncle John and Aunt Megan were over and Gavin was super active so I had Aunt Megan feel my belly, it took a little bit but she was able to feel him move. He normally stops moving when anyone touches my belly except me but today he kept moving. Hopefully more people will be able to feel him move soon.

Gavin Kicked Daddy

January 27
We were lying on the couch today and it was pretty early in the morning. Kevin was lying on my bare stomach and we were just watching TV. I thought Kevin was digging in my stomach with his chin and I kind of yelled at him to tell him to stop but as I was trying to do so Kevin said "He just kicked me." So it was not Kevin being mean it was Gavin telling his daddy to move, haha. We laughed about it for hours and I still can not believe that happened. However, I do tell Kevin that it might have been Gavin rubbing daddys face and just showing him some love but who knows. It was so great to experience that and we will never forget that. We love you peanut.

His Room

Jan. 26
The painter came today and painted his room, we absolutely love it. We were so scared for how it would turn out but in the end it is amazing. I will post pictures soon. The painter english is limited and our spanish is limited but we made it. He painted our house before and did a great job so of course we would use him again and still will. He was done in 1 day and even took a 2 hour break, he is great and so precise. Cant wait to finish decorating and to see the end product.

26 Weeks

January 26
Today is our appt and we scheduled the painter to come out today too, we got our schedules mixed up. This will be the first appt that Kevin can not go to and it is also my glucose test. I am so sad that Kevin can not go.

The appt. went great, no weight gain (in 2 weeks), vital signs were good and no more signs of the rash. His HR was 146bpm and just as strong and loud as it has been any other day. I love it. My belly is measuring at 27 weeks but thats nothing to worry about.

The start of the appt was drinking the sugar drink for the glucose test and they gave me a timer set for 1 hour and when it went off I had to return to the tech. to have my blood drawn. I will have the results in about 2 days.

Rolly Polly

January 21
Kevin and I were lying in bed watching TV but getting ready to go to sleep. Just our normal routine. Well Gavin has been noving alot but this night he made a huge wave. Just lying like I normally do with my hand on my belly I felt this role from one side of my belly to the other it was such a crazy feeling but I kind of hurt too. Unfortunatley we did not get to see my belly role and he did not do it again. However, it was such a milestone for us and I look forward everyday to be able to feel that again. I love this little boy so much, words can not explain.

Nursery, Need some help?

We have bought the bedding and have hired the painter and he is coming out in 1 week. We have a couple ideas for the walls but cant decide. Please help us.

Ideas -
1. Khaki bottom, like blue top - navy blue stripe in the middle 12" with a 1" white stripe in the middle of that and crown molding (thats what we are leaning towards).

2. Same as above but with a chair rail instead of the stripe, but no crown molding

3. Light blue bottom, with a dark blue top, but just dark blue at the very top and having a chair rail break it up but having it higher than a normal chair rail.

Please let me know what you think, we need some ideas.

24 Week's

January 12, 2009
Today was our 24 week appt., we are now considered viable, meaning that if we were to go into preterm labor, the dr. would try and stop it. The appt. was good, had another flare up this AM and the Dr. got to see it. However the rash was better and she thinks we are on the down hill now, so things are looking good for us. I have gained 13lbs now, I am not happy with that but its really not bad and the Dr. is not concerned. Gavin is moving alot now, he was kicking all over the place while we were in the waiting room. We got to hear his heart beat, it was loud and strong. She wants to see us back in 2 weeks for my glucose test, I am not looking foward to that, diabetes runs in my family and I have a slight fear of having gestational diabetes, espically since I gained 8lbs in 4 weeks, hopefully not though I am probably just worried about nothing.

We are starting to get ideas together on how to decorate his room. We are doing a Nautical theme, and we know what bedding we just want to make sure we are making it the best that we know how. I know it will turn out great and hopefully we get started on painting and buying stuff this weekend.

Allergic Reaction (part 2)

Well its now day 5 of this crazy reaction and I am still have flare ups. I dont know what is going on. I had to go the hospital on Friday, 3 days after the initial reaction because it got really bad again. I got a steroid shot for the inflammation but it will also make Gavin's lungs stronger - woohoo. The inflammation went away within about 2 hours and I finally felt great and normal. Saturday at work the flare up started again but not to bad just took some benadryl and felt better. Well than today Sunday on my way to work I had another flare up, I dont know what is going on. Am I allergic to this pregnancy or what? It is driving me crazy - I see the Dr. again tomorrow so hopefully we can figure something out or get a referal to see a allergist.

Allergic Reaction

Well on Tuesday 1/6/09 I was at work and used some lotion that we have, immediatley after using it my hands got really red and itchy. I went to the restroom to scrub but they still were extremely itchy and all I could do was scratch. Well hours went by and I finally decided to ask pharmacy for some benadryl and they sent it up to me. Well when I got home my hands were so swollen and I had a rash all over my face. No big deal though just go to be and it will be ok. Well at 2am my hands looked like the Hulk hands and the rash was spreading. I just took another benadryl and went back to bed. I made an appt. that morning to see the Dr. and diagnosed with an allergic reaction, I knew that but just needed some meds. She prescribed me steroids and just to continue with benadryl. Well I did not take the steroids then because the directions said to start with breakfast and it was already 2pm. Later on that night my whole body was covered in hives, I looked like Freddy Crueger (sp), oh yeah and I no longer have ankles by feet are so swollen I cant even fit in my shoes. Kevin and I got really concerned and we both were about to go to the ER. I decided to read the directions for the steriods and it said that I could take them all at the same time, so I did and took another benadryl. I lied in bed to see what would happen, after about 30-40 min I started to feel better but still covered in hives. Went to bed that night and woke up today and the rash is gone. I still itch like crazy and whenever I scratch I get a flare up but I try really hard not to but it itches so bad. I have 4 more days of steroids so hopefully that will work, seems like it is already. I am miserable.

On a good note, I got to hear Gavins heartbeat yesterday 1/7/09 at the Dr. office, it was clear as could be and very strong. That is the best sound ever, the fact that I have a human growing in side of me, my Baby Boy is a miracle and the fact that I can hear him and know that he is doing ok is amazing. God works in amazing ways.

Daddy 1st time to feel Gavin.

Well we were both hoping Kevin could feel Gavin move on Jan. 2, Kevins Birthday since I found out we were expecting on my birthday but Gavin had other plans for us. Today is Jan. 3 and Kevin got to feel him move. I was sitting on the couch and I could feel him move, I told Kevin to be patient and feel. Well he did not need patience because as soon as he put his hand on my stomach Gavin kicked and he felt it, he asked me if that is what that was and I said yes and than he felt him move about 3 more times. I am so excited I started crying when that happened. Wow another milestone that out little man has accomplished already.

Kevin "Daddy" is so protective

So I am always rubbing my belly and pushing on it. I try to see if I can feel anything underneath all the skin so I am having to push kind of hard to do that. I also try to see if I move my belly if he will start moving. Well I do that quite a bit and especially today I have been doing it alot. Today is Kevin's Birthday and I was praying that Kevin would be able to feel him today which is why I have been doing it. Well Kevin has been yelling at me telling me to leave him alone and stop. I told him that I am not hurting him, he says he knows but that I need to stop and let him rest. I think its the cutest thing ever, he is already being protective over his baby boy.
